Spirited Away Celebrates Its 15th Anniversary With A Magical Clothing Line!

Recently, anime fans and movie buffs around the world rejoiced to the news of Studio Ghibly’s co-founder, Hayao Miyazaki, coming out of retirement to finish his 20-year-old project named Boro the Caterpillar. The famed director, who is known for his distinctive and visionary style, has a few award-winning movies to his name. One of it is the super-successful Spirited Away.

Spirited Away tells the tale of 10-year-old Chihiro and her parents, who stumble across a dodgy-looking abandoned theme park. Upon entering the park, her parents are magically turned into pigs. She then discovers that the theme park is actually a resort for supernatural beings. After meeting with Haku, a white dragon-esque looking creature also known as the Spirit of the Kohaku River, she learns that in order to free herself and turn her parents back into human beings, she must work at the unearthly realm.

The movie has gained critical acclaim worldwide and has also received the coveted gold statue Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Spirited Away celebrated its 15^th anniversary this year following its first release in Japan in July 2001. Here’s the trailer to refresh your memory:

The celebration continues with a special screening of Spirited Away in theatres this December. Sadly, the special 15-year anniversary movie will only be aired in the States. Boohoo!
