He says he was busy attending several functions.
PETALING JAYA: Former Felda chairman Isa Samad tonight denied he was trying to elude newsmen who wanted to get his comments on a controversial transfer of land on Jalan Semarak in Kuala Lumpur.
He told NST Online that he had a hectic schedule to attend various functions in Jempol, Seremban and Port Dickson over the past few days.
“Who said I ran away? I was busy with various programmes,” he said at the Teluk Kemang Warriors’ Day campaign at Batu 4 in Port Dickson.
However, the news report did not state whether Isa made any comments on the land deal.
Isa was reported to have given pressmen the slip after touching down at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Thursday. He had also not replied numerous calls and WhatsApp messages sent to his personal phone number.
Recent reports had stated that Felda may lose its land on Jalan Semarak after an allegedly “dubious” transfer of land ownership to a private company.
NST said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim had confirmed that a special task force had been set up to probe into the deal in which Felda risked losing rights to four plots of land covering 6.72ha, worth RM270 million, on Jalan Semarak.
He said police would take a statement from Isa on the matter to facilitate the investigation.
