4 men jailed 15 years for gang-raping 14-year-old

They were charged with gang-raping the girl at a public toilet in a recreation park.

gang-rape JOHOR BAHRU: Four friends were sentenced to 15 years’ jail each by the Sessions Court here today after they were found guilty of gang-raping a 14-year-old girl two years ago.

Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir handed the sentence on Muhammad Nuzul Ikhram Nurallail, 21; Mohamad Ridzuan Mohd Asri, 21; Muhammad Saiful Fauzi, 20; and Muhammad Azlan Md Lazan, 21, after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing the case beyond any reasonable doubt.

Another accused, aged 18, was also found guilty and the court set Dec 5 for sentencing, pending a probationary report on the juvenile.

The five men, and another person still at large, were jointly charged with gang-raping the girl at a public toilet at a recreation park in Taman Setia Tropika, Kempas, here, between 12.30am and 2am on Sept 30, 2015.

They were charged under Section 375B of the Penal Code, which provides a jail term of up to 30 years upon conviction.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Suhaili Sapun, while lawyer Hussin Othman represented all the accused.
