Man charged with sexual assault on daughter

The 37-year-old gardener has claimed trial to six counts of committing physical sexual assault on his 14-year-old daughter.

KAJANG: A man with four children was charged in the Sessions Court here today with six counts of committing physical sexual assault on his 14-year-old daughter.

However, the 37-year-old gardener pleaded not guilty to the charges before judge Surita Budin.

The offences were allegedly committed at his house here between 1am and 3pm between March and July this year and at 4pm last August on a motorcycle while the girl was returning home from school.

All the charges were made under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides an imprisonment for up to 20 years, and liable to whipping, if found guilty.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Noor Hafizan Zakaria did not offer bail as the victim was the accused’s own daughter and the action by the man had distressed the girl so much that she had slashed her wrist.

The girl is being treated at a hospital and has been placed under the Social Welfare Department.

Surita did not allow the accused, who is unrepresented, bail on grounds of the victim’s safety, and set Oct 17 for mention for submission of documents and appointment of a counsel.
